Meaning |
| Actor | An individual, group, or organisation that can either affect or be affected by a project. Also known as ‘stakeholder’. |

| Case study | An up-close, in-depth, and detailed examination of a particular project or programme, within a real-world context |
| Civil servant | A person employed in the public sector by a government department or agency or public sector undertakings |
| Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) | Organisations that play the role of mediator between public authorities and citizens |
| Community of practice | A group of people who share a common concern, a set of problems, or an interest in a topic and who come together to fulfil both individual and group goals |
| Crowdsourcing | The practice of obtaining more information or input |
| Decision maker | Individuals involved in selecting a particular plan or course of action to be used in health initiatives from a set of alternatives |
| Governance | Structures and processes that are designed to ensure accountability, transparency, responsiveness, and broad-based participation |
| Implementer | An individual, group, or organisation that puts a health decision, plan, agreement, etc. into effect |
| MOOCs | A course of study made available over the internet aimed at unlimited participation and open access |
| Parliamentary staff | Individuals that work with the parliament |
| Policy brief | A concise summary of a particular issue, the policy options to deal with it, and some recommendations on the best option |
| Policy maker | Individuals involved in making or formulating a particular plan or course of action for health initiatives |
| Research uptake/ Knowledge translation to policy and practice | The activities involved translating research findings from the laboratory, research journals, academic conferences etc. into the hands of people and organizations who can put it to practical use, in policy and healthcare settings (healthcare delivery, clinical interventions, public health interventions) |
| Researcher | Someone who conducts research, i.e., an organized and systematic investigation into something |
| Stakeholder analysis | A process of identifying stakeholders or stakeholder groups before a project begins; grouping them according to their levels of interest and influence in the project; and determining how best to involve and communicate each of them throughout |
| Stakeholder engagement | A process of determining how best to involve and communicate to identified stakeholders throughout a project |
| Stakeholder mapping | A process that defines aspects of a social and natural phenomenon affected by a decision or action; identifies individuals, groups and organisations who are affected by or can affect those parts of the phenomenon; and prioritises these individuals and groups for involvement in a decision-making process |

| Target policy profile | A tool to facilitate dialogue around evidence needed to effect a change in policy |
| Toolkit | A set of tools and resources containing information to be used in skill development or undertaking a particular task |
